OREN PLASTERING HISTORY

Since the Depression era, the Oren family has been in the Plastering business.  Motivated by his grandfather and father, Kenneth Oren started Oren Associates, Inc. in 1988 specializing in plastering services.  Around the same time, his mother opened Oren Fab and Supply Company responding to area contractors who wanted to buy materials they knew Oren kept on hand.   In time, Ken’s sister Carol bought the supply business from her mom. In 2004, Ken made a decision to get out of the plastering business and become more involved with his ministry.  Closing down the plastering company would leave Carol with a supply business that could not sustain itself.  By involving some of the Oren associates who also wanted to see the plastering work continue, Oren Plastering, Inc. was begun as a division of Oren Fab & Supply, Inc.

Today, Oren Plastering Company is certified as an EDGE Woman Owned Business.  Its goal is provide high quality work and prompt and friendly service in Southwestern Ohio.  Oren Plastering Company offers a full line of plastering services, including installation of traditional plaster, acoustic products, EIFS, and commerical fireproofing.  Oren specializes in ornamental plaster and restoration work.  While Oren’s team of skilled craftsman is focused on commerical work, they will provide quality service to smaller jobs, including residential business.

Oren Fab and Supply has one of the largest selection of industry tools and supplies in the Dayton area.  The Supply Company offers its products to professionals and others, such as students, artists, and mold makers.  Call (937) 236-2399 with your plaster product needs.

Ken remains in touch with the business, providing technical resources as needed.  Additionally, he remains active in the industry as the Representative of the Dayton Bureau of Lath and Plastering.  This service is dedicated to providing education to architects, contractors, and owners on the advantages and qualities of plaster and its products.  Look for more information at www.plasterinfo.org.

While many believe plastering is a “dying art”, the crew and management at Oren Plastering Company know plaster is constantly being rediscovered for the “green”, versatile material it is. Plaster is often imitated, but few materials can rival the stability, fire resistance and acoustic properties of plaster. The superior attributes of plaster are time-proven and it will continue to be as modern technology is incorporated into many systems to make plaster easier to work with, more consistant and require less maintenance which appeals to home and business owners. Contact Carol at (937) 233-7621 with your plastering needs or questions. She will be happy to include the tradition of plaster in your next project.

Tuttle Construction

On January 18, 2008, the Tuttle Construction Inc. building in Lima, OH was leveled in a massive gas explosion.  In just one year, on January 30, 2009, a new Tuttle Construction office building was dedicated in an Open House.  The 12,000 square foot building was designed to be environmentally friendly, to save both energy and water.  The air conditioning and heating unit uses a refrigeration loop to transfer energy around the building, the lobby is floored in renewable bamboo, and a bike rack was installed to encourage employees to bike to work.  The building is expected to be designated as the county’s first LEED certified building by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizing the building and construction process as earth-friendly as possible.

Tuttle Construction was started in 1928 by Herbert U. Tuttle as a general construction company, in Lima, Ohio.  In 1954, the company incorporated.  Since 1992, Clyde R. Rauch has been the sole owner of the company.  The company was founded on family values and a strong, honest work ethic.  Still today, Tuttle Construction’s success remains a direct result of its continuous commitment to its many customers.
