Congratulations
Congrats to Zachary (Zach) Rossman who received the 2009 AGC West Central Ohio Division $1000 Scholarship. He is a junior at the University of Cincinnati studying Construction Management.

Construction employment declined in all but 19 areas nationwide in June 2009 as compared to June 2008, according to a new analysis of metropolitan-area employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Annual Dedication and Leadership Award goes to
Edward Jauch
Randall
Fox (l), Executive Director of the AGC West
Central Ohio Division presents Edward Jauch, a long
time AGC Board member and volunteer, the 1st Annual
Dedication and Leadership Award. The
recognition was presented to Ed at the Team Building
Night, held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the
Masonic Center.

Annual Dayton & Miami Valley Construction Career
Expo
AGC West Central Ohio is pleased to support the
efforts of MCACP in sponsoring the upcoming Construction Career Expo to be held in the Montgomery
County Fairgrounds Coliseum building on
October 6, 2009.
The Expo hosts hundreds of students and their teachers from local area high
schools and career centers in a morning session; and
then is open to the general public from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.
The
Expo offers interactive exhibits and discussions
regarding apprenticeship and career opportunities in
the Miami Valley area.
Several local apprenticeship programs will participate the event. [See more about the Expo]
Alan Degen, AGC West Central Ohio, is awarded scholarship
Alan
Degen was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the West
Central Ohio Division of the AGC in August, 2008. He is a senior at The Ohio State University where he majors
in Construction Management.
Alan is scheduled to graduate in December,
2008 and he hopes to begin his career in the
Columbus area.
He is the son of Don Degen who works as a
carpenter for Peterson Construction Company.

On
June 26, the Better
Choice Program graduated its first class to
complete their preliminary training requirements at
the Iron Workers Local 290 Union Hall. Currently,
five students are working in the electrical trade.
Then, on Monday, September 8th, a second class of 15
students successfully completed their two day
training. The grads are pictured with Eddie
Jaudon (far left), Better Choice
Director and Rob Shearer (far right), Director of Safety
AGC West Central OH. Eddie and Rob are on the front line of the
Better Choice Program efforts.
